The exhibition "Under the Eye of the Partitioning Power: Places and People of Organic Work" in Łódź!

On June 18 at 1:00 PM, we invite you to the University of Lodz Library for the opening of the exhibition "Under the Partitioning Power’s Watch: Sites and Figures of Organic Work."
The exhibition tells the story of a quiet yet remarkably effective form of resistance. It illustrates the clash between the official perspective of the Prussian authorities at the turn of the 20th century and the tangible, long-term impact of the Polish elites' efforts.

Here, we encounter the stories of individuals who—opting against dramatic battles and armed uprisings—chose to build the nation’s strength through "legal conspiracy." Encouraging the reading of the Polish press, supporting homegrown initiatives, and actively participating in community life were all actions that the Prussian state apparatus could deem subversive.

The exhibition offers a unique perspective on the proponents of "organic work"—people who chose persistent grassroots effort over armed conflict. It invites reflection on the values that guided them: social responsibility, solidarity, and steadfastness of action.

This is no ordinary history lesson; it is an inspiring tale of courage, social energy, and the power of everyday actions.

The exhibition opening will take place on June 18, 2026, at 1:00 PM on the ground floor.
The exhibition is open until August 28, 2026.
Free admission.
